Frequently Asked Questions

How is The Common Good Network funded?

The Common Good Network is currently funded via speaking engagements carried out by our founder, Toni Kent. To book Toni, or find out more about her speaking work, please fill out the contact form.

The Common Good Network serves a number of audiences. What connects them all is a desire to help people overcome socio-economic barriers to opportunity. Audiences include:

  • Individuals looking for help to access education and/or career opportunities
  • Service providers who help people experiencing socio-economic disadvantage to access education and/or career opportunities
  • Corporate organisations who want to partner with service providers local to their regional offices or wish to find service providers who can help them complement their existing social impact efforts beyond social mobility programmes that bring exceptional talent into their business
  • Supporters and sponsors who wish to invest in the ongoing growth and future ambitions of The Common Good Network

There are three categories for getting involved which we hope will make sure everyone is included!

  • For free: Spread the word about The Common Good Network, from sharing it on your socials to pinging your local press, we’d love to get everyone talking about it.
  • For a return: Book our founder, Toni Kent, to deliver a talk on social mobility at your organisation. Her work is what currently funds our work.

For philanthropic reasons: If you’d like to make a donation to help fund ongoing development of the platform and our future ambitions, fill out the contact form to book a conversation and we’ll make it happen!

To list your organisation, simply click the ‘Apply now’ button located throughout the site.

Organisations that apply to be listed on The Common Good Network map & directory must:

  • Serve people experiencing socio-economic disadvantage
  • Offer services that help people experiencing socio-economic disadvantage access education and/or employment

No, listings are currently free.

Depending on demand, we are currently planning to update the directory on a monthly basis. Whilst we’re in set-up phase, we may add organisations outside of this window.

The categories were chosen on the basis of the barriers that people experiencing socio-economic disadvantage disproportionately face compared to peers who live in areas of greater affluence. When you live in an area of financial deprivation, you are more likely to experience unemployment, poor educational outcomes, slower career progression and lower salary expectations. At the same time, you are more likely to experience involvement with the care system and the criminal justice system.

Our long-term ambition is to make The Common Good Network the place that people go to find organisations that help people overcome socio-economic disadvantage. We are working on a plan to put this in the hands of millions of people nationwide. If you want to talk to us about it – please fill out the contact form.

We want results, and fast! Our founder grew up in a community where people had to make things happen and actively support one another in times of crisis because they didn’t have the time or resources to sit around and wait.
