Trust for Developing Communities

Trust for Developing Communities (TDC) is a registered charity with a 25-year track record. We support people facing poverty and exclusion to make positive changes in their lives and in their communities. This enables everyone to play their full part, which benefits us all.

Here’s how we support local people:

Building communities. We offer dependable advice, health and wellbeing support, adult education, employability programmes and youth activities to people living in areas with high levels of poverty. Our community development workers build strong trusted relationships and support groups and individuals to grow and make things happen.

Engaging with people facing exclusion. We support people from refugee and migrant communities with training, connection and finding pathways into employment. Our specialist workers support Black and racially minoritised people one-to-one with problems relating to wellbeing, housing, benefits and accessing information.

Tackling health inequalities. We run workshops and community events in areas with high levels of health inequality, supporting local people to access the health services they need. We focus on cancer, high blood pressure, heart problems and diabetes, working with communities to co-create the campaigns and health initiatives that they want to see.

Inspiring young people. We run regular youth clubs in areas of the city with high levels of poverty and run Brighton Streets, where our youth workers connect with young people out and about around the city.  Our specialist team meets young people on foot or aboard our dedicated youth bus to offer support, connection, advice and safety. We also deliver individual coaching and mentoring to support young people facing challenges.
